On 21-22 September, a seven-strong Opus team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of KidsOut and PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide

The Opus Safety Trekkers – Ian Hatherly, Simon Hurcomb, Darren Egerton, Millie Dawson, Nick Bruton, Dave Clifton, and Sophie West – tackled three of the best-known peaks in Yorkshire within 12 hours. The 24-mile trek included Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m) and covered a total ascent of 4,531ft!

The Trekkers pulled on their walking boots to raise funds for two charities very close to the Opus team’s hearts:

KidsOut is a national charity dedicated to supporting some of the UK’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable children with positive and happy experiences. Each year, KidsOut provides day trips, fun experiences, toys, and books to approximately 20,000 children in refuges and safe houses who might otherwise have none.

PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. They run HOPELINE247 (0800 068 4141), a free, confidential helpline staffed by trained professionals who give advice, support, and information to individuals experiencing thoughts of suicide or anyone concerned about a young person who may be at risk.

Help us smash our fundraising target!

We’ve already raised £3,700 for our chosen charities and are aiming even higher! You can help us make a meaningful impact for children affected by challenging circumstances and young people struggling with mental health issues by visiting the Opus Safety Trekkers’ Just Giving page

Thank you for your support.
